Anyone has any suggestions as to what it was?????????????????????

My guess is rodent scat. Cant figure out for sure how big it is in the pics but it looks like the stuff left by our local raccoons. Sorry... Good luck hunting!

Hmm, I'm thinking...it looks like a predator's dung, but your chickens were not hurt. This is very confusing. It has bits of corn, feathers, and feed, so I'm thinking this is a rat. They take feathers off of roosting chickens for protein, eat corn scratch with the chickens, and steal or hoard feed in their tunnels. Call an exterminator to take away the rats, not spray chemicals. Never use chemicals!

The Poop was definitely too big for a rat....
It looks more like small dog poop...
I was so surprised to find it on top my nesting shelves....

I've always heard that eggs work best... others say tuna, others say sardines. I say trial and error til you find out what it is that your coon fancies for supper.

Well... I have some Tuna and I definitely have some Eggs!
I guess I will scamble up an Egg!
Thanks for all your help everyone!
God Bless
and Happy Chicken Raising!

Just a whole egg in shell works just fine. Marshmallows or cut up fruit will catch 'em too and less likely to catch things like neighborhood cats than tuna or cat food.

Yeah, but you can catch your own chickens with marshmallows and grapes

lol
I just put out cat food, and catch what I catch. Raccoons LOOOOOOVE cat food - I think they'd walk an extra mile for it. It's a live trap, so I always have a choice to relase whatever I catch if it's the "wrong" animal.
