Hi, is a small amount of paraffin wax in the incubator ok?

I know wierd thing to say but... my incubator is not only for eggs, it has been use before to melt paraffin wax and i washed it many times to get the parrafin off it but i still smell some paraffin.

Today was day 8 and i randomly picked up a few eggs and 3/5 were alive

. My main concern i guess is when they hatch. Will they have breathing problems?

I would think that after 21 days that the fumes should be dilute enough. Otherwise nothing will hatch,

Well actually i am hatching quail eggs(17 days)...

Is there any way i can check how much paraffin fumes are still there?

Would you recommend to move the eggs at lock down to my home made incubator? Although it doesnt have a thermostat and the temprature might not be very even around...

thanks

It's pretty non-toxic stuff. You can put it on top of jam and jelly to seal the jars (that's the old fashioned way it used to be done before Ball lids and bands). I wouldn't worry too much about it.
