So my dad has a tree business and occasionally cuts down trees with baby birds and squirrels normally we can find someone to take them this time were having a bit of trouble. Theres 5 baby birds I dunno what kind. They think some sort of hawk but I dunno. They're definatly meat eaters they had patches of rabbit/squirrel fur in the nest as well as snake skins. I've been feeding them wet and dry dog food, dried crickets and an egg all blended in a food processor. I feed them about every hour or so. Yesterday they wouldnt open there beaks for food so I'd manually gently open there beaks and feed them. Today they are all opening them for me. There poop is a bit runny today. So im guessing they eat raw meat. We breed meat rabbits and I can thaw out some rabbit do I just feed it raw? 15598678580763173761918542884289.jpg

Any help on feeding would be appreciated. We are working on finding someone to take them.

Can you get closer pictures?

Try looking up the book
"I found a baby bird what do I do?" By dale carlson and hope m. Douglas

Are you able to get pre frozen mice to feed them?

My wildlife rehab feeds baby birds moistened dog food, but predatory birds like baby hawks and owls get cat food. Hope this helps. If you feed rabbit meat I would grind it.

Those aren't hawk chicks. They look like average songbirds. Hawk chicks are much much larger, white and fluffy and with different beaks. Continue feeding the dog food mix until you can find a rehabilitator, bc you can't do it lon term without a license.

Agreed the people that cut the tree down figured they were hawks cause of the meat. But I didnt think so. There doin great today all are opening their mouth to be fed instead of me manually feeding them. Still workin on findin a rehabilitator

Hmm the yellow on the wings makes me thing of a goldfinch, but I'm not sure.

Awesome! Glad they're doing good. Really nice that they have someone to care for them.
