we have wild chickens in our area. I also have a flock of 7 of my own. I’ve observed a wild mother hen with her chicks around our yard for a week or so now. While I was gone, my neighbor must have picked one up and let it get separated from its family :( the neighbor gave the chick to my husband and now I’m trying to figure out what to do. I kept it warm with my warmer overnight, but I’d like to try to give it back to its mother today. Does anyone know if that might be successful? Otherwise I’ll raise it and replace the rooster we plan to cull, but it seems sad to raise one baby chick on its own since it will have to be separated from my full size chickens.

I had a wild chick come in my yard (our story here), I sent it back twice and ended up having to raise it the 3rd time it came back. That's how I started chickening, getting more so he wasn't raised alone, now I have 15!!
