I have a resident bird who has nested in my backyard tree..yesterday was windy and family stopped by...the kids found four baby birds and the mother is flying around and tending to them..Will my chickens harm them if I let them out to free range? And are they harmful to my Chickens?

Dont let the chickens out! I had a small quail get loose once and it landed in the middle of my yard and all my hens jumped right on it and tried to kill it. I think the chickens would kill and maybe even eat the babies.

My DH let them out and they walked right by the baby birds to get to the shade under the trailer! So far so good and the cat is in the house any idea on how long they will be on the ground?
I know not to touch them because of my scent and the mother rejecting them! We have been out of state for ten days and i really need to mow!

LOL..Mow way around the babies. So they have tall grass to hide in..And watch those chickens..if they find them they are dead birdies. Good luck!

Touching wild baby birds and putting your scent on them will not make the mother abandon them. It is a total myth. If you think the wind blew the birds out of the nest I would try to put them back. Sometimes, before baby birds can fly, the mother will push them out. The mother will then take care of them by bringing them food on the ground until they can fly and fend for themselves.
