I moved the girls out into the coop the other day and have been sending them out in the pen each day for awhile. They weren’t too sure about being outside at first. However now, they LOVE it. I’ve been tossing them a handful or two of scratch grain every once in awhile when I go out to socialize with them. They love it. However I’ve noticed so do several species of wild birds. I don’t have the top on the run yet. I hope when I do it will put a stop to the majority of the seed stealing. I’ve also “talked” a couple of house sparrows out of dining there with my daisy 760 who were also harassing some bluebirds. I’m wondering though, are these birds a danger to my girls through disease? Should I stop giving them treats outside?

Wild birds can carry diseases, lice/mites and eat up feed which equals loss of money. If there is a way in, they will find it, (winged rats), but it is best to keep them away from your fowl if at all possible.
