I have a spitzhauben that is 3 1/2 weeks old. This child is the wildest baby I have ever had to catch!!!! Once I have a grip on her she settles down pretty much right away. So, I know it's the flight or get eaten syndrome but how can I ease the stress of catching her? My polish and EE (same age) are easy as pie to catch but this little one is getting the best of me.

She will lay white eggs, great layer according to stats.....i just thought how cute and different. Her "siblings" are Clair the polish and Scarlett the EE. The EE is so calm she will fall asleep in my husbands arms.....so different from the last EE we have. She's aloof but such a talker.

Spitzhaubens are just a flighty breed. If you wanted a cuddly one you picked the wrong breed sorry.
It's ok, I've got other chickens that don't like to be held. I was just trying to get ideas on how to catch her gently without all the drama. Once in my hand she settles right down, it's just the initial catch that is difficult. I have a australorp that has been aloof since I brought her home as a chick but she has the most wonderful personality and follows me around talking to me like we are best buds.....won't let me touch her but is right on my heals while i'm in the run. They are so funny
