So, now that all the wild ducks have migrated back up here to the Frozen North I have been seeing a Mystery Drake on the side of the road every morning on my way to work. He's gone in the afternoon, but he's always in the same puddle at the same time each morning. I havent seen a female, but I'm usually going 65 mph and I'm sure shes well camoflauged on a nest... ANYWAYS, I am really going to try to get a pic, but for now heres the description:
He is a little larger than a wild mallard drake
irridescent black/green head which stops right at the neck, from the neck down he is white breasted, with a rich brown band about 6 inches wide running around just under his breast, and over his wings, then his back half is white, with brown/black tail feathers.... I can't find a pic on feathersite or ducks unlimited...
Anyone got an idea? Oh and his bill is also black and seems longer and wider than the average duck.
