I have these little wild strawberries that grow all over, are they something thats safe to offer my chickies?

Also, im growing watermelon, sugar snap peas, cucumbers and summer squash. I know i can feed them the veggies/fruit but will they eat the leaves if i trim the plants back? Are they safe for chickies and if anyone knows bunnies.. are they safe for rabbits too?

We grow lots of lettuces, carrots for the green tops, sweet mint, basil and strawberries for their leaves for our bunnies every year so my chickies will also have all that yummy stuff too.

Ty :)

Sounds like your girls are spoiled! :)

I don’t know about the leaves, but I’m commenting so I’ll get updates on other opinions on this matter. I’m curious to know what people say.

I like using this link with with a drop-down menu for a quick answer on yes/no treats:

Oh yeah they definitely are! Tho they have our rabbits to thank for all the yumminess! We have 16 pet bunnies and we also breed them. We breed Hollands and Netherlands. So this year i planted double what i normally grow for them because of my chickies :)

This is my first time growing watermelon, sugar snap peas, cucumbers and squash. That stuffs for us altho I will definitely share it with them :)

Yay ty!!!! Good to know because they are everywhere and figured if they can eat them I'll start picking lots for them :)

Oh my lands!!! If I had wild strawbs, my chickens would be lucky to get ANY!!! I would be out there snarfing them all down myself, lol! Where are you that you can give such a treat to your chickens and rabbits?

The only time(s) I ever encountered wild strawbs was on a mountain in Colorado, camping with my Dad. Tiny, yes, but oh so delicious. My mouth is watering at the memory....

Perhaps they are too tiny and scattered to bother picking for human use? :idunno

Yeah i found out they are "mock strawberries" but i do grow strawberries for my bunnies, they cant handle sugars good so i grow them for the leaves. In other words, my chickies WILL have strawberries :)
