Will a drake of a larger breed injure females of smaller breeds?

I plan on getting some ancona ducks, runners, and welsh harlequins and I hope to keep an ancona drake in my flock. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on how feasible this is? Will he injure the smaller ducks when trying to mate with them?

This could be an issue...it depends on the drake though. I would usually recommend having a same size or smaller drake than the females just to prevent any injury, but I have had a drake larger than the rest of my female ducks and never had an issue. I guess you will have to wait and see how it goes but I guess it shouldn't be a huge problem. Make sure you have enough female ducks per drake though, this is probably the biggest thing. You should have at least 3 female ducks per drake but 5 or more is better. Good luck hope this helps. I have always though Ancona's and Welsh Harlequin's were such beautiful birds and runners are so funny!

My 14 pound Muscovy drakes mate with 6-7 pound hens without any issues.

I have a Welsh Harlequin and Anconas and they are more or less the exact same size. I always thought that Runners were about the same as WH as well?
