Will a hen turkey pose like a tom?

We bought two feed-store turkeys that had the very specific and exact breed specifications 'bronze' and 'white'.
We bought them for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, to be honest, and sorta to irritate my mom who told me to never get turkeys because "they poop all over the place."
I was startled one day to see my normally docile turkeys suddenly standing just like toms that you see on postcards, even though they're only 2 months old. They were facing a man who was parked next to my fence to go fishing, and they stayed that way, tails fanned and up, so I stood and stared. Eventually, the man must have become a little nervous to have such a crowd, so he left. Only when he got in his truck did the turkeys lower their tails and resume their normal behavior.
Is this a tom thing only, or will hens do this, too?

I didn't care if they were male or female, but I sure am interested now!

Yes, our black spanish hens grow breads and they strut around just like the toms do.

Well then, I guess I'll just try to get along without knowing!

I guess if one eventually lays an egg, I'll know then!

They will TRY to strut, but usually just puff up for a second or two, then lay their feathers back down. If the strut and display and hold it for more than a minute, you can rest assured it's a tom.
Post a pic and we can tell you for sure, there are many ways to sex them, the bronze should have buff tipped breast feathers if they are hens, or all solid if toms.

My hens I got will strut just like the toms do and for a long time like the toms do. No trying about it, they strut better then the toms do sometimes. Some of the off spring from these hens strut and some dont, some grow beards and some dont.

I had a couple of toms that started strutting when they were no bigger than softballs. Hilarious. But if they held it then I guess that means Tom.
