I have noticed a wild pheasant attempting to get through the chicken wire around my coop to steal food. I have 8 hens and 1 rooster, I think they are about 3 months old. Would the pheasant hurt the chickens? I think he is living out back near my pond.

It could injure your birds and eating food will then have other critters come and eat too. Wild pheasants can sicken the chickens too. Idk how to make it go away. If you trapped it and relocated it may not survive in its new habitat and be bothersome to someone else. Killing it is in humane. Around here in Ohio wild pheasants are rare where I live. I’ve seen one but I wouldn’t imagine hurting it. It’s just hungry and instincts and coming in

They fight my roosters all the time. It actually gets very annoying. Sometimes I wonder if that's where my chickens get mites and worms.
A nice pheasant stew may be appropriate:) otherwise it'll just keep trying. Have a dog? If it gets chased away it might stay away.

Up to our eyeballs in the in Nebraska. As common as robins in ohio. I see huge nyes on my drives home. Quail and turkey too.

I call dinner.
