I am getting two Pekin ducks. I am planning on giving them my chicken layer feed with supplemented Brewers Yeast, but it has a lot of corn in it. I read that corn is extremely fattening to ducks, and that if they become overweight, their keel hangs down and even if they lose weight, it will always be there. So here is my question, can i feed them the layer without having to worry or do they need some other feed? I read you can feed layer to ducks, I'm just don't know about the corn.

Layer is to be fed to actively laying birds, otherwise I recommend an all flock ration. Corn in a ration isn't a problem, feeding too much extra corn will lead to them becoming too fat.

They're going to be a able to swim every day, which i will assume will help keep them more fit, and have a large pen. I am going to take them into the garden to eat the bugs, and they will generally be busy. I am hoping that will help keep the weight off.
