I noticed one of my good layers limping yesterday. I did a check and couldn't find anything wrong with her leg and foot. No bumble foot, blood, etc. I did however notice that her abdomen was a little warm swollen and suspiciously egg shaped. I did a check as she does indeed have an egg in there. Can being egg bound cause a limp?
So, I waited until this morning to see if the egg passed, and it still hasn't. So I'm thinking she might be egg bound. She seems in good spirits and wants to walk/hobble around and even tried getting away from me. I gave a warm bath this morning and I have her in the rehab box on the porch with food and water. So I'm thinking the next step is TUMS. Is it okay to crush them up with water and syringe them into her mouth? She wasn't having the tablets but it's the only thing I have on hand.
