Will momma do the job?

I have a broody silkie in a prefab coop where the nest boxes are way off the ground with just a ramp. If or when the eggs hatch will the momma bring them down or do I need to intervene?

Mom will eventually bring them down, or you may want to do so after all have hatched. Problem is that when she goes back to the nest they will not be able to follow and may get chilled. You may want to have a 'one level' coop/pen when they are newly hatched.

Hey, do as you choose. It's all a learning process. What works for one may not work for another. It's almost guaranteed that newborn chicks will not walk up a ramp into an elevated coop.
