I just got 3 bantams from my friend the other day, 2 hens and a rooster. I've never had bantams before so I was surprised when I went out to check on them the other night and they were already on the roost right by the window, the highest roost I have in the coop. Now I'm scared to let them out because I don't want them flying away and we don't have a roof on the run because our other chickens can't fly and we close the coop up at night. I'm just wondering how do I get them to not fly away and look for their old home without clipping their wings. I want to let them free range because I have 5 acres for them to do whatever they want and it's always fun to have them follow you around. How can I let them get used to their new home enough that they come back at night? (There are coyotes at night but no other predators during the day other than my cats which I'll keep an eye on)
