I have 9 Red Stars and 6 Buff Orpingtons. They are now 25 weeks old. My Red Stars started laying in October at 15 weeks and the Buffs started a few weeks later. I can tell the difference between the Red Star's eggs and the Buffs: the Red Star's are large to extra large (with some jumbo double yolkers every so often) and a dark brown color; the Buff's are extra small to small in size and a light tan color (almost an off-white). I can see that the Buff's eggs are starting to get a little bigger as the weeks go on, but they are still very small compared to the Red Star's. So, what size eggs will the Buffs lay on average once they are fully matured? I thought their eggs would be a lot larger than what I've been getting.

They should continue to get bigger, the hatchery ones I had usually wound up laying a medium to large size, but they were never as big as the same age Red Stars on average.
