Will my Buffs ever lay this year?

I have 3 buff orpingtons that are 23 weeks old. My ri reds are the same age & started laying 3 weeks ago.
My question is now with the days getting shorter and the temps dropping (we live in MA) what is the likelihood that they'll lay any eggs before spring?

I've got 2 RIR and one mystery girl. All 3 are 25 weeks old. None have laid an egg.

I know it could take them a while, but I'm wondering if I should put a light in the coop on a timer to encourage them to lay sooner rather than holding out over winter.

If you decide to give them extra light it is completely up to you. l told myself that if all of my chickens weren't laying that i would go ahead and give them light so that all would lay before winter rest. its completely up to you

I think I want to add light. Now I just need to read up on how to safely hang a light in the coop so I don't cause a fire or have any of them get hurt.
