I live in the deep south and every year we get love bugs that cover everything. The bugs don't seem to hurt any plants but they get so bad that you don't want to go outside. These are the same bugs that fly around with their butts stuck together (go figure) and cover the front of your car when you are driving. So will my chickens eat them?

No, your chickens will not eat the black love bugs. If they attempt to they will stop immediately. Birds will not eat them either. Love bugs fall into the same category as the chinese tallow tree and kudzu vine: "TOTALY USELESS!"

Yes and no. Due to their taste and smell adult chickens will, or will not eat them. They are an acquired taste. If raised at a young age and fed love bugs, I've found chicks respond to them and will eat them. Later on they will be used to them and eat them if they need the little extra protein and nutrients that bugs in general have. My chickens eat them when they want to. It's not a definite yes or no. All depends on your bawk bawkers.
