Will my Chickens Lay in the Winter?

If their combs and wattles are bigger and redder than the others they may start laying soon. My RIR's started laying early. This year I have four Columbian Wyandotte pullets. One started laying about two weeks ago and another just started laying the day before yesterday. The other two are slower to develop. They all hatched on the same day but still are developing at different rates. You just never know. Best of luck with them.

Thank you! I am excited for them to start laying, but even if they don't, I love watching them and caring for them. I suffer from depression and they help so much. They make me laugh. I never knew chickens were so fun.
If you have the room, ducks are by far Mother Nature's best comedians. Chickens are funny, but ducks are downright hilarious. They will keep you smiling.:):)

I love ducks. I don't have a pond for them though. We have hawks and foxes too, so I wouldn't be able to let them free roam. Maybe someday we can build a huge run with a small pond and get some!
