Will my chicks miss me when I put them in their coop?

Well, you know the only cure for 'empty nest' syndrome...more chicks!

We have pheasant eggs in the incubator now that should hatch about Sunday. They aren't nearly as sweet as the chicks, but they are so darn cute!

ooo...oooh...I get it now...
I wondered how people started with 6 peeps and by fall had 30 chickens. Now, I think I get it!
hmmm...is it too late to raise a turkey for Thanksgiving?

You'll find new ways to enjoy your chicks. Mine can't free range either because of many predators. My run is 6' tall with a tarp over it. When my girls see me coming they all gather at the door to greet me. I grab the folding chair and go in the run. When I sit down, I become a human roost. I immediately have 2 or 3 in my lap, telling me all about their day so far. I've had 5 of them on me at one time. This is my first batch of 6. The other 6 are still a bit shy but they come for scratches and pat inside the coop.

Now, I was not handling them all the time when they were in the brooder. This affection has come since they have taken residency in the coop. The key is, as always, food. Bring treats and they will come.
