will my dogs eat my chickens

The others have given you good advice. I would definitely follow their suggestions.

My two cents is that you have to ask yourself the question of whether you are willing to lose some of your chicks to find out whether the dogs are trustworthy or not. A lot of dogs act just so perfect with their masters are around, and the one day they decide to leave them alone, the master comes home to a bloodbath.

If you are not willing, you have to put the work in to make sure the dogs are put up somewhere the chickens can't get to while the chickens are out, and to put the chickens up where the dogs can't get them when the dogs are out.

If they are out together, then you are there and in control of the dogs with training and/or leash.

Don't be lazy. Lazy means a dead chicken or flock.
