Hi All,

I’m hoping someone can help me out. I’m currently at day 7 of incubation and I candled my eggs tonight.

I had an issue with humidity in the first days and I couldn’t figure out how to lower it, so I propped one side of the incubator open, it was a tiny slit meant to let out moisture, however I didn’t realise that it would affect the temp.... blonde moment?

Anyway, the eggs closest to the opening were obviously a bit cooler. Now upon candling I can see that the eggs all seem to be at different stages. The ones furthest from the opening are doing well, but the ones closest seem to be behind....... they look to be developing, just like they started later or are doing so more slowly.

I shut the incubator a couple of days ago as most of the water was gone and the humidity was ok with the lid fully closed.

Will the eggs that were in the cold spot still hatch? This is only my second lot of eggs and my last lot had one sad little chick hatch, who I’m fairly sure is a rooster this lot I found that half weren’t even fertile and they went in the bin tonight. If I’ve stuffed it up I’ll feel awful.

Thanks for any advice you can give

My suggestion is to carry on as if nothing happened. I could go into great detail about how inconsistent what you see candling could be, how each egg develops as it will, or how tough those eggs can be. I don't know how much of an issue you really have but probably not much of one. And there is nothing you can do to make the situation better but there are plenty of things you can do to make it worse. Just carry on and see what happens, you will probably do OK.
