Will my goats help?

I have read here, and other places, that keeping your chickens with goats will help with the hawk situations.

I was thinking of moving my older girls to my goat pen (to free up some space, not for more chickens of course

), which they would have separate housing in that they would be locked in at night, but they would have no netting overhead. They are under lots of tall tree but I am worried about hawks.

Anyone have any personal experiences with this type of situation? I wont do it if it risks my ladies.

If you haven't seen any hawks around, I would say go for it. With the trees and the goats, they should be alright. It would be a lot better if there were some small bushes for them to hid under. My property borders a forest area and I let my chickens free range. But they have plenty of cover, blackberrys and the like. The only place they get in trouble is the fire break, they try to cross that and an eagle will get them most of the time.
