Will my hen never trust me again?

My hen used to follow me around like a puppy. now that she's gone broody, and I get near her nest, she fluffs up and seems to growl at me!

Yesterday I gave her a soothing head massage and she relaxed, then stood up and showed me her 4 eggs. Is this a sign she will be my trusting friend once her brood has hatched? Or am I condemed to stay distant, not playing with "her" chicks?

It is a "MOM" thing she doesn't trust you right now because she is protecting her babies so when she is done brooding she will trust you again now as for trusting you with her chicks around and allowing you to play with them, Hmmmm not sure on that I know most of the one's I have been around never have allowed anyone to get close to them until a certain age then they were free to do what they wanted to the babies so you may or may not be allowed to do anything with the babies only time will tell.
I say relax her every chance you get with her do what ever you do to get her to calm down and over time she will be relaxed enough around you to allow you to maybe play with the chicks let us know how it goes.
