So Friday night, we put a batch of eggs in the incubator after our smaller batch was pretty successful, we decided to do a larger batch this time with 40 or so eggs. Our eggs were in there Friday from about 5 till about 2 on Saturday when the power went out. They sat there for about an hour cooling off until we were able to hookup our DC to AC converter using a car battery and started powering that incubator (we had 3 car batteries in there ready to go in case it didn't come on for a while) So, the eggs were able to cool down to about 90 degrees, but then once we plugged it in, the heat started rising back to the 99.5 it needs to be at. Do you think our eggs will still be able to hatch? It as only like an hour of cooling off. But mama bird gets off the eggs every once in a while right?

I don't think it affected the eggs much. I just had a very successful hatch (17 out of 18 eggs). The temp dipped down to 95 one time for several hours, and peaked as high as 106 once for a short while (less than one hour). The rest of the time, the temp were between 99 and 102. To be honest, two of the chicks have bad legs, probably due to the swing in temps.

Your eggs will be fine, don't worry. It takes a long time for the core temperature of the egg to drop. The cooler temps for only 1 hour probably had very little impact. Good luck with your hatch!

Oh thank goodness! We have like 40 eggs in there haha! My mom bought standard cochin eggs because they are so hard to find.
