will they always be like this?

We bought these pea fowl about 10 months ago, and they will not leave each others side, at the zoo u see them all by themselves but here they won't get a few yards apart without freaking out..
p.s. I thought they were suppose to be 2 before they did there loud mating call was not expecting it and he did it in front of my ear and I bout di
ed scared the hack out of me, now mind u it was a half a.. one kinda a roosters first attempt at a crow but I still thought peacocks didn't do this till 2 years of age?

Sorry forgot to put question in there will the pea fowl ever spread apart or will they always have to be pretty much touching or is this a young trait?

If you only have two they will be inseparable. They are bonded. If you only had one it would be bonded to you for life. They aren't doing mating calls. They are either locator calls or just kids hollering.

The locator calls are simply peacocks playing Marco Polo and it is something they will always do. You need to know where your buddy, your mate or your flock is. When one gets lost the calls may go on for weeks and they get sadder and more forlorn. When one dies and the others don't know about it they also carry on for a long time. But if they see the body and are able to interact with it they scream and get frantic but they don't do any calling because they know where he or she is.

The female will call the kids to come to bed. The males will tell their mates it's time to get in the house. When a female has started setting her mate may wander around calling and looking for her, even refusing to sleep in his normal spot.

Casper (our white male) will perch on top of the greenhouse so he can see as much of the property as possible. Of course after several years of his mate setting he has learned to just go to bed.
