Will they come home? :(

I had my guineas, all almost fully grown, free ranging my 5 acre property with my chickens for the last month or so. Before that, they were restricted to the pen. They were always the first ones saving their spots on the top roost in the coop in the early evening, way before the chickens would settle in for the night and I would lock up.

Last night it was getting close to the time when they would usually be doing their final inspections around the coop and I noticed that they were nowhere to be seen. I've walked, quaded and even threw rocks in all the nearby bushlines to see if it would stir up some reasuring squawks. R

But nothing :(. It was 't stormy last night but it rained from morning until late afternoon today.

I only had five, but it is so odd that they all have disapeared together so I suppose a preditor issue is not so likely right?

I am new to guineas but I absolutly adored them :(. Is this normal once in a while? Or should I not keep my hopes up for a safe return?

All answers will be greatly appreciated :)

This is probably the result of one of two things.

1) They were chased by a preditor and are hiding out somewhere till they feel safe, then they will come home (happened to me numerous times and they normally came back with less guineas).

2) They wandered too far away and got lost. In the 2nd case, they might find their way back. Mine got lost once and confused a neighbors house for mine. Luckily, I saw them on his porch crying for food, so I went over there with some corn and sprinkled it behind me as they followed me home. Worked like a charm.
