Henderson Nevada aka Las Vegas
I put this also in Vegas section but going to put it here too

I live in Las Vegas Nevada starting tomorrow they are saying we are going to have record braking heat with 115+ (now this is in the shade up in the air unaffected by the sun itself) so what we are really looking at is 125 - 130 and about 3-5% humidity
for at least the next 4 to 5 days. my girls know how to use my doggy door so they come in side to cool off and during this heat wave there will be no time they are not allowed in (currently I boot them out in the am and after 5pm as all there areas are in shade by then) what worries me is in the coop yes I have cool air from swamp cooler blowing in there and a little fan its in the shade from 1pm till sunrise but my girls all lay there eggs during am hours and sitting in those boxes gets hot my bo cherrios is in there right now panting away (sad thing she don't even lay eggs she drops hers with out shells while on the roost at night no its not a calcium or food thing she is a defective chicken) she stays there everyday for about hour. and my other girls follow suit. I just don't know will they leave the nest if they get to hot. or will they stay in there and bake?

I've seen several threads about this. It's been 80 degrees around Central Coast CA and my chickens are stressed from that heat. I sure hope your chickens will be ok. I'll look more into how much heat they can handle. it depends on breed so u have 1 Buff Orpington, 2 Leg Horns, and 1 Amber Star? I'll look it up for u
Good Luck!

I've noticed that my girls will do anything to get their eggs layed. I've had the same problem. It was 110* for 3 days straight and my big Brahma hen was in the nest box for about 15 minutes before I booted her out. She's takes a long time to lay, about 1 hr.,so I was worried about her.

could you try freezing bottles of water and setting them around for them? i do that for my rabbits in the summer, but i don't know if chickens would use them

Orpington- Cold hardy but not heat hardy
Leghorn- Heat hardy but not cold hardy
Amber Star- Heat hardy but not cold hardy

Your chickens will suffer from heat over 100* Fahrenheit.

If they are in there for more than 30 minutes while the tem. is over 100*, I'd suggest you'd boot 'em out. Or let them nest in your house.
