will they molt this year

It's possible, but not probable. As a rule of thumb, they don't usually molt the first year, however, there have been exceptions.

My Golden Comets are 16 months old and started their first adult molt last month. So far they're in a gradual/slow molt. Which means it could take six months, but egg laying should continue, at a reduced rate.
They did not molt last year as pullets. GC

my flock are 14 months old and just starting their first molt.. seems very slow and gradual.. not seeing any bald or thin spots, just lots of various feathers in the coop and outside..
