Will they start laying in the Winter?

Hi everyone! I have two chickens who I assume will be ready to lay this winter. Their sisters were early layers so they laid this fall. Where we live in California, our winters are very mild. Even still, I am wondering whether they will start this winter or in the spring. I predict they will be ready to start in the next 2 months. They Buff Orpingtons and 6 months old.

It’s possible, especially if you have added light, however they seem to start when they are good and ready and there isnt much you can do to force them into it.

Some breeds do more than others. My hatchery birds like Barred Rocks and RSL began in the fall and winter.
