I have a friend who had a just hatched chick, that has leg that is curled up on one side. she says it strong and cherping. She said she gave it poly vi sol vitamins and it has seemed to make it stronger. But it seems to be paralized on the one side. she also said its trying to stand but cant and its neck is curved. what should she do?

not to be rude but to give you a response (and get more then my opinion)
but would you really want it to

just to have to cull it later:(

sorry about the hatch defect

I hate to even say this but if the chick did live what quality of life would it have? It sounds like it is severly deformed. I would cull and Euth the poor thing.

there is always another way?
is that the only chick

maybe build a little splint ? could we see pic?

is the owner willing to put the resources in the chick

theres the chance it dies any way?
or cant get to water or food?
oh and the neck is twisted can it process its food and water
now starving to death or dehydrating to death would be more cruel then just about any other way to die

things to think about

can i ask more ?s

what kind of chick would you say it is?

how bad is the neck?
thats where i would guess the paralysis would come from?
does it make any sounds?
if so what?

cw, can you contact me, i am pretty sure that the chick needs to be culled. i took a video of it and my husband is in the process of sending it to my photo bucket. I did not think to use the word deformed until you said it. It may be deformed. if you can come into chat that would be great

Thanks CW, but incase you need to know its @ the top of the byc page and says CHAT just click on it and come in..
