In the process of building this shed and run. Already have the run framed out but was thinking how to add a roof to this. Planning on running a 12 foot supported 2x4 down the middle about 1-2 feet about the cross beams. Then have 5 foot rafters come off that every 2 feet. Cover with purlins and metal roofing. Think the walls in this design can take the weight?

So instead of the horizontal "rafters" you would have a gable style ones? I would think as long as your ridge board is well supported by some (other) means...maybe with a hurricane tie against the housing wall and a sturdy post on the other end??? then the side walls would support the rafters coming down just fine. If it doesn't feel "solid" enough for you as you go to do it, throw in an extra 2x4 that goes all the way to the ground at each corner...

Agree with above. You might want to use some ties to firm it up. If you're concerned you could use 2x6 on the base and top.

You are still in the framing stage. You can beef-up wherever you think it needs it. I think your plan sounds a little heavy-duty for a sheet metal roof. But, I'm always being accused by my 4 sons of overbuilding everything myself.

I was planning on still having the horizontal rafters in addition to gable style ones. Rafter ties sound like a good idea where connecting to the shed. May be overbuilt, but I guess that's not the worst thing. Thanks for the help
