I have an extremely broody hen...I literally have to shove her as hard as I can from the egg opening to get her out of the nest and she pushes back the whole time. I tried moving her to another cage and she wouldn't even sit down...but as soon as I let her back in her hen house she goes up to the box after a little bit and won't move again. So, I removed the other three chicken from the house(letting her keep it since she seems to be picky), cleaned it up, laid a fresh nest, and got her a dozen fertilized eggs. It's been about mins and she hasn't gone up to the eggs yet. Will the eggs be fine for as long as it takes for her to realize she should go back up there again?? I don't doubt once she goes up that she'll resume being broody but am I jeopardizing the eggs in the meantime??

If she hasn't been on the nest yet at all (or rather, if the eggs haven't been under any hen or in an incubator at 99.5 for a while), the eggs won't have started incubation. Until she's sat on them for ~12-24 hours, they will be fine sitting around waiting, even for days. Best of luck!

So....I checked on her last night and she was on the roost...not the eggs. In the morning she was out in the run and the eggs hadn't been moved at all. I removed the eggs and got an incubator from my aunt. The whole purpose of the eggs was for her sake but the parents of the eggs were to amazing to let them waste!! Doesn't sound like I'll have a problem?? The weather was never too hot or too cold and they were never touched.
