I HAVE 6 RHODE ISLAND REDS AND 9 DOMINEQUE HENS MY CURRENT COOP IS 4X4X4 WITH A FUN THAT IS 6X4X10. AND I HAVE THE 6 RHODE ISLAND REDS IN IT NOW AND JUST PURCHACED MY DOMINEQUES. SO I AM THINK OF BUILDING A COOP ALONG THESE LINE.. IT IS 8FT WIDE AND THE PIC HAS THE REST OF THE MESUREMENTS WILL THIS WORK FOR ME. AND THE HEN BOX WILL BE 16 INCHES TALL AT THE COOP AND GO DOWN TO 12 INCHES TALL AND 16 INCHES DEEP... I AM GOING TO BUILD IT THE WHOLE 8FT LONG SO THEY WILL ALL BE ABOUT 1 1/2 FEET WIDE. AND THE SPOT UNDER THE COOP WILL BE OPEN SO THEY CAN GET IN THE SHADE.. THE FAR SIDE OF THE COOP IS WHER I WILL BE PUTTING TWO ROOST FOR THEM ONE ABOUT 3FEET HIGH THE OTHER ABOUT 1 1/2 FEET HIGH STAGERED OUT A LITTLE BIT. FOOD AND WATER WILL BE OUT SIDE AND I DO PLAN ON ADDING ON TO THE RUN BY PUTTING IT IN A 4 FT FEENCE ARE SO THEY CAN HAVE MORE ARE TO RUN WHEN I ALLOW THEM TO...SO WILL THIS WORK FOR MY 15 CHICKENS

Yes I think so. The only thing I would change if I built another coop would be to make it movable so that I could put it on top of a garden bed I am finished with, or on some clover I don't want etc.

mine will be mobile i am putting some bolts throught the back 4x4 and putting some 6 inch wheels and tires from harbor freight. all i will do is lift up one side a slide on the wheel and same to the other, then pick up the front that will have an eye hook to connect to my 4 wheeler to move it around

As long as they aren't going to be confined to the coop in bad weather it should do. That's about the same coop area I have and mine only sleep and nest in it. If they are going to be inside for extended periods it would be on the small side. The area under the coop only need to be about 16-18 inches high for them to fit under it comfortably but no harm in having it 4 ft off the ground.

This should work. Great plan, I would consider raising your 4 foot fence area that you plan to put your run in by at least 1 to 2 feet. I had a 4 foot perimeter fence around my coop and found out that some of my birds could indeed fly out of it. Found some mesh wire at the local hardware store for less than 20 bucks @ 2 feet by 150 feet.

ok i will so that i can buy a roll of chicken wire for 54.99 that is 6 ft by 50 feet and add 17 feet longer area to what they will already have so it will be 8ft by 12feet inside closed coop and when i open door they will run out to a 8ft by 17 feet area. that i will be able to move around for next year when i plant my garden...
