The mill that I am buying out chicken feed at does not have quail or wild bird feed, but they do have turkey starter/grower that is 30% protein. Would it work for bobwhites?

It should. The protein level might be a bit high, but I don't think it will harm them. I feed my chicken babies 20% flock raiser, instead of the 16% chick starter, and they all seem fine.

You could mix it with chick starter though, if you think it will be a problem.

I think it will work great wish I could find one with a 30% protein

do you have any purina dealers near you? They make a startena and layena that works for quail

I sorta found out by accident.

Sorry, had to look this up.

Anyhoo, my wife calls me playing on this website watching my chickenporn.... and I happened to have a bag handy so I clicked off a couple of pictures with camera phone (sorry, its almost 2 am, tired and dark in here) so quality may suffer. I pick this up at the Swartz Creek elevator.

I wish my feed store carried that! They have turkey starter (I think), and it's only 28%. No grower or layer for gamebirds.

I was lucky when I found this right off the bat, and local too! I think Monarc23 uses cat food and hard boiled eggs to supplement the protein? I may have mixed it up cuz brain is shutting down, but i remember reading that somewhere 4 sure

That's right, cat food, boiled egg, meal worms, basically any type of creepy-crawly

It would make it easier if I could get gamebird layena though
