Ok, I know I need wire over my windows, I,m just not sure why.

Does this serve to keep the chickens from pecking the glass and breaking it or is it purly to keep preditors out.
Do chickens peck at glass?
Is Glass not used in chicken house contruction or is it ok.

Just thought Ide throw this in here.
This is Mrs. Nezbit shortly after we got the 4, about 3 weeks ago.

The wire is to keep the chickens and other birds from flying into it and harming themselves. It'll also keep them in -and predators out- when you open the windows for ventilation. Regular window screen wouldn't hold up to an errant chicken or determined racoon.

I don't have any problems with having glass windows in a chicken house -especially if they are covered with wire. We humans and our fragile offspring live in glass-windowed houses with very few bad accidents -and the rule is always to quickly and safely clean it up if it does break, so I don't see why chickens would be any different.

LOL, I love the little peep hiding in the bottom of the basket!

In some cases, the wire is on the inside to keep the chickens from roosting on the window sill or to keep them from going out of an open window.
Other times it is on the outside to keep out large predators. I guess whether you need to do that depends on your local predators.
