I have windows on 3 sides of my 6x8 coop. There is a chicken door on the wall with no window that leads out to their run. Because my coop and run are like Fort Knox I do not go out and make sure they are in bed and close doors. My husband says I should be closing a window or 2 so as not to have a draft. What is the correct ventilation for the coop at night? I thought it should be open so it would be cooler for them.... Thanks, Tamma

I leave all of my windows open during the warm months.
In the winter they are all closed since all the roof rafters are open for ample ventilation.
There is one window that I have to close on rainy days so the coop doesn't get wet and smelly.
I, too, do not close the little chicken door since it opens up to the secured run.

Thanks so much!! I, too, have to close a window when it rains. And I will leave them open so there can be some cross ventilation. Glad to hear I'm not the only mom not tucking the chicks in at night. Thanks again! Tamma
Heres my coop, (first time trying to upload pix).

Thanks so much, but I didn't build it myself. It's all open inside. To the left are 3 nesting boxes and on the right are 2 long staggered perches with 1 about thigh level and the other at shoulder level. I have one nesting box too many as I intend to eventually have only 6 chickens. I really wish I have built a longer run. I would like to have one double that size. But if I did, I would probably want to exceed my 6 chicken limit
