I posted several month back about getting a pair of adult peafowl... but decided against it as my property was not enclosed and I worried they would annoy my neighbours by getting into their rice fields, or else they would be attacked by the village dogs.

Now my property is totally enclosed... 2 sides have concrete walls well over 6 feet tall.. the other 2 sides have wooden fencing which is about 6 foot tall.

My land is large.. made up of my house and a mango orchard.. we also have a small lake with ducks.

Noise is no problem for the neighbours as they are noisy themselves.. we don't mind.

So now I am considering the peafowl again. I want to know if I clip their wings will they be able (or even want to) to escape over the walls and fence?

If they got out they would likely be attacked by the village dogs.. which killed some of my guinea fowl before I enclosed the land.

Also, I have 7 Japanese Bantam chickens that free range in the daytime. Would the peafowl attack them or eat any chicks the chickens hatch?

I don't keep the guinea fowl anymore as I re homes them before I could get the property enclosed safely.

Will the peafowl be able to roost in the trees if I make some ladders up to the branches? I would prefer them to be totally free range. Or would they hurt themselves when they jumped down as their wings will be clipped?

It is said that peafowl can jump six feet without the help of their wings. If they jump out of the safe yard they would not have the ability to excape the dogs without their wings. If you could extent the height of the walls with some 2" netting you might be able to keep them in. The only other choice would be to cover the entire area with the netting or to make a large covered pen.
