Just to let everyone know, I was wondering about using wingbands for identifiying my female layer quail. So, I started with 100 tags and the Jiffywing applicator from Randall Burkey; works like a charm!

Just thought I'd let you know! I may put up some pictures of the bands in action if I have enough time.

Easier to mark the roos--- less of them. Also its way cheaper to use zip ties around the ankle. Dont get me wrong! I like wing tags.... just dont like the price.

Thank you! I took a peek at them the other day. I wanted something more professional than twist ties around the ankle. I just wasn't willing to pay $30 for an applicator that I may only use a few times.

We use zip ties not twist ties. I'm not sure a twist tie would be a good idea. Zip ties you can buy for $2.99 per 500 or maybe 1000 & in an assortment of colors. I don't know how you plan on sorting them but I am just going to mark females & maybe use different colors for different ages in case I want to rotate out stock.

I bought the Jiffywing, which has a $8.00 applicator, and 100 tags of any color are $8.00. I thought it was a good deal!

That does sound like a good deal. how much is the replacement tags?
