Winter Feeding.

Other than the usual scratch,cracked corn,etc. Is there anything you can feed poultry to help them during the winter months? To help generate body heat. i have heard of people feeding black sunflower seeds. thank you in advance for your replies.
 
Yes warm oatmeal or rice

I guess you prepare it the same as if you were going to eat it?
 
NOt to generate warmth, but to give them some fun entertainment, you can tie a cabbage and hang it. They will peck at it. It'll take them a while to get used to it, but they will love it.
 
I put cabbage,carrots,apples and celery on a string and tie it in the coop from the roosts,and I also do that out in there run,its nice in the winter time if they are confined its give them something to do.
