Winter housing for mallards...what do you think of my idea?

If I understand correctly, it's a kind of large plastic bin. Often the lids are hinged, but not always. I used one for about a week or two as a brooder. It was two feet deep, five feet long and 2.5 feet wide.

Yes, that's what I'm referring to. You found a larger one than I've been able to find though...the one I have picked out is just shy of 2' x 4', and I think 18" high. I figure a smaller space wouldn't be bad because their body heat will warm the inside much more quickly. And they can always get out and take a breather if it gets too stuffy in there. Or just sit out in the snow if they prefer, lol...ducks are silly.
