I know how important it is for emus to pick at little pebbles and things to aid in digestion. During the winter months when the ground is covered with snow, is there any diet change that should be made for optimal digestion? Does anyone make little pebbles, etc. available for winter emus? Ours are on a pretty commercial diet now. They wont eat any fruit or veggies. They will however pick at grass and leaves when available. Is it crazy to consider growing wheatgrass and sprout trays for them to pick at?

Can they eat the commercial Grit that they sell at the store for chickens? It's about 10$ for a bag and my chickens go through very little of it, so 10$ lasts about a year.
