winter water help!

I don't think so. A general tip is to change the water every day, at least two times so it doesn't freeze but I don't think there's really a 'safe' way to stop the water from freezing. You can delay it though with special materials and location but other than that, no.

We have a way. We have nipple waterers on a large bucket. You can put a little heater in it. It worked well last winter. You must have electricity though, just saying.

I use a 10 gallon semi clear plastic tote, horizontal nipples, and a stock tank deicer purchased from the local feed store. The stock tank deicer only comes on when the water temperature is below 35 degrees which saves energy. The biggest advantage is that the water only needs filled every 7 to 10 days. Have used this system for 3 years already. Has kept the water thawed down to -22 F.

I should also mention that the stock tank deicer is rated to use in plastic. The horizontal nipples were purchased from Amazon. The tote was bought at Walmart. Semi clear was selected so the water level is easy to see.
