wire coop floor

Hi, everyone!

My chicken run is attached to my garage and has a 4"x4" coop for nesting and sleeping. I plan on cutting a hole in the garage to allow the chickens inside in the winter. I live in upper Michigan.
Question is- what kind of wire can I use for the floor to allow droppings to drop through and not hurt their feet. They will have a perch. I want to have a slide out sheet for easy clean-up. This will not be a very large enclosure as I only have 3 chickens.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

I'd use a coated wire. 1/2 hardware cloth or chicken wire only if this is going to be inside.

i used 1/4" hardware cloth... too small, poo doesnt fall through. use something bigger.
