Calcium Carbonate and our friends in the Global Warming industry keep telling us that the worlds' oceans are going to Hades in Mother Nature's hand basket because of all the carbon dioxide and other acids that the oceans are absorbing from the atmosphere. Well take heart boys & girls, lye is a base and not an acid so lye counteracts and neutralizes all that shoo nasty nasty acid. You may even be in line for a Nobel Peace Prize because of all the planetary acid that your chickens helped neutralize.
