Hi there, I am looking to cover my chicken run in wood chippings. I have identified somewhere on the internet that sell the quantity I need and they either sell "bark chip wood chippings" or "play bark pine chippings" both products are said to be natural and have no chemicals. Was just wondering if one was better than the other or more suitable? As I said they won't be in the coop, just covering the run floor which is about 4mx3m..

Give them a call and ask them what the difference between them is. I believe that to be labeled "play grade" the chips have to be within a certain size range. They measure and rate impact absorption for that size chip and type of wood so if kids fall on it the fall will be cushioned. It is generally very uniform in chip size due to this and is generally a softwood.
