Hi there,
Last Sunday I put some fresh wood chips that I got from ChipDrop across my hen Penny's small run. Very well ventilated, all outside, etc.
Not sure the type of tree, but the original chip pile was crawling with box elder bugs, so I assume it was a box elder tree.
Yesterday, she's wheezing. Saliva looks a little thick, and that's about it. No other symptoms. I gave her some VetRX in her water and on her head. It calmed down a little when she went into the coop (no wood chips in there). By night, she seemed to be breathing normally in her nesting box.
This morning after she woke up, she looked fine. Now, midday, she's wheezing again.
Is it the wood chips she's having a reaction to? I just gave her more VetRX to see if that helps.
She's alone in this run (and happily alone), so it's nothing she would've caught from the rest of the flock.
