Hi everyone,
We're planning on The Palace chicken coop build (plans courtesy of Steamy Kitchen) - with a few adjustments, one being a simpler base (4x4 treated pine, with 2x4 untreated framing laid on top) and then an open floor to the ground. Ground is rich earth, not soggy although does get wet after a rain but drains quickly.
We have a fair amount of wood chips (left over from an arborist cutting down a big tree) - would it be sensible to lay down 2-3" of wood chips on top of the bare ground as the floor of the chicken run?
Thank you! JW

Might want to divert the run off from where ever it's coming from.
Does the new coop increase the 'sogginess'?
