I was lazy and copied the newbie template
We are Tess & Chauncey Woodard and our son CJ. We live in southern Wa and just bought my grandparents place to begin a lifelong promise to my grandparents of keeping love and laughter in their house.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? As a child we kept all kinds of chickens and I showed them in 4-h, Chauncey's family also kept a few but not quite the flock we had and so he is learning the ropes a bit more and I am refreshing.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? it varies, we buy, sell, trade. Between 10-30
(3) What breeds do you have? Dlaware, Australorp. Copper Maran, Lemon Cuckoo Maran, Turken, Welsummer, Americauna, Lavender/Leghorn, Cochins, various Bantams, Doves.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Mag & internet
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? travel, photography, sports, board and card games, sewing, antiquing, cooking, wine tasting, fshing, hunting.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share? I am now retired due to impending hip replacement but was a union concrete laborer & millwright apprentice and a chef for many yrs. Chauncey is a union sheetmetal worker, Cj is a student and loves to play football and other sports and go hunting and paintballing. I used to rodeo full time. We have had hounds and used to hunt and have bird dogs still to hunt with, our dog just had 13 puppies but we lost one leaving 12 huge puppies. The dad is our black lab and mom is our german short hair/ chesapeake bay cross super great dogs thought we would have 6 puppies haha. We plan on doing farmers markets with our chickens, veggies, salsa and bbq sauces and other various items we do. If your in the local area s.w. wa we plan on breeding endangered and rare species and wold love to trade our buy or just get together and talk chicken
